Andrea Clark is a proven entrepreneur and a leader in the healthcare information management (HIM) community. With more than 30 years of experience working with thousands of hospitals, payers and other organizations, Ms. Clark’s focus has been to improve the delivery of healthcare and to maintain revenue integrity for her clients. She is known
nown for her forward thinking, early identification of trends in the healthcare sector and the ability to develop products and services to help her clients address these trends.
In 2001, Ms. Clark founded Health Revenue Assurance Holdings (OTCQB: HRAA). HRAA provides hospitals with a variety of technology platforms and services including data analytics software, business intelligence technology, medical coding, auditing, education, revenue cycle consulting, and ICD-10 transition solutions; all of which are necessary for hospitals to keep up with the ever-changing healthcare industry.
Under her leadership, the company has been recognized as a trailblazer in the transition to ICD-10. Ms. Clark is also renowned for her work with outpatient prospective payment systems (OPPS) and the wound care revenue cycle.
Ms. Clark is an accomplished author who regularly pens articles for industry publications and associations. Most recently, she authored a book titled, “Moving the Needle: Using Medical Data to Transform Healthcare from Volume to Value” (RedTree, 2013), on the transformation ICD-10 will have on the healthcare sector. Her first book is titled “The Guide to APC Auditing to Achieve Revenue Integrity” (Hcpro Incorporated, 2006).
She has authored articles that include “Avoiding the ICD-10 Claims Backlog” for Healthcare Finance News, “Wound Healing Through Medical Data: Get Ready for ICD-10-CM Classification Improvements” for Today’s Wound Clinic, as well as “Key Issues in the 2009 OPPS Final Rule,” one of several pieces written for the Journal of AHIMA over the years.
For more than a decade, Ms. Clark has been selected by AHIMA to be a featured speaker at their national conventions. She has spoken at the OPTUM Essentials conference for the last five years and will deliver the conference’s keynote address in 2013. She has also been selected to present at AHIMA’s ICD-10 summit.
As a wound care reimbursement expert, Ms. Clark has traveled around the country with Wound Clinic Business educating physicians, podiatrists, nurse practitioners and hospital-based outpatient wound care departments on revenue cycle insights.
Ms. Clark was recognized by the Stevie Awards as the 2012 Female Executive of the Year also received the 2012 Mentor of the Year from the AHIMA Triumph Awards. Most recently, she was selected as one of 2013’s top 10 CEOs in Broward County by the South Florida Business Journal. Other honors include being named one of the 10 HIM Heroes, Professionals Who Have Made a Difference by For the Record Magazine in 2011.
Ms. Clark earned a B.S. in Health Information Sciences from the University of Wisconsin. She is certified by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), by the American Academy of Professional Coders as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), and a Certified Procedural Coder-Hospital (CPC-H).
