For the past 26 years, Barry has served as a professor of pediatrics at the University of Vermont, a clinical and transitional research scientist, and a clinical attending in general, emergency, critical, and acute care medicine at the University of Vermont. Barry is the Director of the UVM Global Health and Humanitarian Opportunity Program and has
spent the past 7 years working internationally in global health and humanitarian assistance in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Caribbean and Southeast Asia. Barry earned a PhD in Microbiology at the University of Texas, a MD at Southwestern Medical School, a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and an International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance from Fordham University.
