Benjamin Joffe-Walt is a technology executive and public speaker who specializes in organizational strategy, leadership, culture, and change. He is the Chief of Staff and founding Vice President of Communications at Change.org, the world’s largest platform for social change.
Before becoming chief of staff, Benjamin founded and built Change.org’s
global communications team, hiring dozens of communications specialists across four continents and building one of the world’s most prominent social change brands. PR News named Change.org’s communications team one of the top places to work in PR, and Change.org campaigns and leaders have been profiled in over 250,000 global media pieces. Prominent placements have included TIME, New York Times, Washington Post, Guardian, Bloomberg, Fortune, Businessweek, CNN, The Daily Show, Ellen, Diane Sawyer, Anderson Cooper, Dan Rather, and profiles in more than 20 countries, from the Jakarta Globe and Times of India to El Pais and Le Parisien.
Prior to to joining Change.org, Benjamin spent 8 years as a war reporter focusing on human rights issues across Africa and the Middle East. He served as a foreign correspondent for the Guardian, chief Africa correspondent for the Sunday Telegraph, and as the editor of Colors, a multilingual international reportage magazine based in Italy and sold in over 40 countries. His work has appeared in academic journals and media outlets in more than 50 countries, including the Economist, BBC, and New Statesman.
Benjamin was named Young Journalist of the Year by the British Foreign Press Association in 2004 and awarded Africa Print Journalist of the Year by CNN the following year. He was also given a Society for Environmental Journalism award for a piece on electronic waste in China.
