Bill is the Director of New Ventures in the Office of Cooperative Research (OCR) at Yale University, where he has been since 2002. Dr. Wiesler focuses on creating new ventures based on Yale inventions, primarily in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and diagnostics. In addition to serving on the board of BioRelix, he founded and serves on the board
of Ren Pharmaceuticals, Carigent Therapeutics, and Great Basin Scientific. He also led Yale’s founding of Applied Spine Technologies, and more recently, Oasys Water, Inc. Dr. Wiesler’s previous licensing activities included several major transactions for clinical-stage or marketed pharmaceutical products.
Previously Dr. Wiesler was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company where he advised pharmaceutical companies on a range of strategic and business development issues. Prior to McKinsey, Dr. Wiesler was with Radius Ventures, a start-up and early-stage venture capital firm focused on the health and life sciences industry. Earlier, Dr. Wiesler had research positions at Cadus Pharmaceutical Corp., where he headed drug discovery, and at University of Colorado, where he was an American Cancer Society fellow. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and an MBA from Columbia University, and a BA in Chemistry from Princeton University.
