Bob has been very active in educating entrepreneurs through co-founding in 1998, the Investor Ready boot camp seminar series (22+ seminars held) for entrepreneurs and now advanced workshops on Valuation ad Terms Sheets for more experienced CEOs and CFOs. For Angel Investors, he recently joined with the Bellingham Angels group to offer the Angel
Capital Association’s Angel Investing Overview workshops and Advanced workshops on Due Diligence and Term Sheets.
He has been since 2004, the Board Director and Founding Member with Canada’s National Angel Organization. Bob is a member of the BC Technologies Industries Association, the Vancouver Enterprise Forum and the Angel Capital Association of the US.
Prior to initiating the Angel Forum in 1997, he was with a major Canadian financial institution with executive responsibilities ranging from corporate and investment banking to private banking in Vancouver, London, England and Bahrain in the Middle East. He also was involved with a seed venture capital fund and a pre-shipment finance fund with a BC trade development company and a discretionary investment management frim for private investors. Bob has lectured on investment funds and advised mid-sized companies, financial institutions and commercial crown corporations. For the past 8 years he has been involved with an electricity and natural gas trading company.
He was a Charter Student at Simon Fraser University, earning a B.A. in Economics and Commerce and later a M.Sc. in Business Administration from Boston University. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
Outside of work, Bob has been an annual backpacker on week-long trips through BC’s coastal mountains and has now transitioned to week-long off-road biker through southern BC. In the winter he is a regular skier at Whistler Blackcomb. For his next overseas trip he is planning to retrace an ancestor’s 1860 exploration of Patagonia
