Mr. Gries is the Founding member and current Managing Director of the Gries Investment Funds and has served as Managing Director of all 52 partnerships since its inception in 1998. Mr. Gries was instrumental in taking Crius public (the result of a merger in 2012 between Public Power and Viridian Energy) on the Toronto Stock Exchange and served as
Chairman for several years. The Gries Investment entities remained the largest shareholder until its sale to Vistra Energy in 2019. Mr. Gries, formerly a director of the Cleveland Browns, assisted in negotiating the sale of his family’s 43% stake in the franchise in 1996. The Gries family ownership spanned 60 years, dating back to 1936. Mr. Gries also owned Arena Football franchises in Tampa Bay and Orlando which won multiple Championships.
