Boris Rubinsky is a Professor of the Graduate School at University of California Berkeley.
Dr. Rubinsky is inventor of the VIPS technology and has invented and developed numerous other medical technologies, many of which have become successful commercial companies including: Cryomedical Sciences (became $300 million NASDAQ company); Aqua Bounty
(transgenic salmon, ABTX on the London Exchange); Oncobionic (irreversible electroporation; acquired by AngioDynamics ).
Dr. Rubinsky is a world‐renowned medical technology researcher, inventor, prolific scientific author and speaker, and he is a Professor of the Graduate School at University of California at Berkeley. In 2006, he founded the Center for Bioengineering in the Service of Humanity and Society at Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
He holds many distinquished awards and positions including serving as President of the American College of Cryosurgery (1995-6), Chancellors Professor at University of California at Berkeley (1996-2000), Silverman Distinquished Professor of Bioengineering (2000-2008), Fellow of the American Association for Advancement of Science since 1995.
Among his many contributions, Dr. Rubinsky has pioneered medical imaging in cryoablation and the field of non-thermal irreversible electroporation. Tens of thousands of patients were treated with the technologies that he has developed. He holds 35 issued US patents with an additional 17 applications pending.
Dr. Rubinsky received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Bioengineering) from MIT, and his MS and BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Technion in Haifa, Israel.
