Dr. Brent McQuaid graduated from the University of Virginia medical school and became a Chief Medical Resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. As a clinical fellow in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Duke University, Dr. McQuaid focused his research effort on chemokine and micro-RNA mediators of airway

inflammation in bronchiectasis at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He joined LeBauer Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine in 2012 and has clinical interest in bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension. At LeBauer he has taken the lead for Cone Health’s multi-disciplinary pulmonary hypertension clinic and practices both critical care and outpatient pulmonary medicine. In addition to participating in several leadership committees he implemented the outpatient thoracentesis program for LeBauer Healthcare. In clinical practice his research interest in clinical trials has grown and he is an investigator in COPD and Asthma clinical trials utilizing cutting edge biologic therapies. As a full-time pulmonary and critical care clinician he recruits and oversees clinical trials in both the inpatient and outpatient seeing. His research interests include airway diseases, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and ICU clinical trials.
