Brian Jones is President of Strayer University, a provider of postsecondary education to working adults on 96 campuses in 26 states and online globally. Prior to Strayer, Mr. Jones co-founded Latimer Education, Inc., an early-stage venture-backed company partnering with historically black colleges and universities to provide high-quality online
postsecondary education opportunities to African Americans.
Prior to his tenure with Latimer, he served as senior counsel in the postsecondary education practice group at the law firm of Dow Lohnes PLLC. From 2001 to 2005, Mr. Jones served as general counsel for the U.S. Department of Education, the fourth-ranking officer of the department and the principal legal adviser to the secretary of education.
He was appointed to this position by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Mr. Jones currently serves on the DC Public Charter School Board.
