He worked at Novo Nordisk from 1994 to 2000 as Corporate Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer. Previously he was at ZymoGenetics, which was acquired by Novo Nordisk, where he served as their President from 1988 to 1994 and as Vice President Research and Development from 1986 to 1988.
Dr. Carter began his career at G.D. Searle & Co. Ltd. where from 1982 to 1986 he was Head of Molecular Genetics.
Dr. Carter received a B.Sc. with Honors in Botany from the University of Nottingham, England, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Queen Elizabeth College, University of London.
