C. Scott Humphrey, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic shoulder specialist, entrepreneur, and inventor.
Dr. Humphrey founded Shoulder Options in 2007. He now serves as Chairman of the Board, Chief Innovation Officer, and Surgeon Design Team Leader for the company. As the primary surgical designer, he holds two U.S. patents and
is the primary inventor of four additional pending patent applications. Dr. Humphrey is also a surgeon design team member for DJO Surgical (Austin, TX).
A graduate of the University of Oregon, he attended the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Humphrey trained in orthopedic surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Creighton University residency program.
Dr. Humphrey completed an additional year of training to subspecialize in surgery of the shoulder and upper extremity at the San Francisco Shoulder, Elbow, and Hand Clinic (Tom R. Norris, MD, Director; San Francisco, CA).
Dr. Humphrey started the Humphrey Shoulder Clinic (formerly Boise Shoulder Clinic) in 2006. The Clinic’s mission is to provide excellent patient care, educate patients regarding shoulder disorders and treatments, and contribute to musculoskeletal research. Through the clinic, Dr. Humphrey serves as a tertiary-care resource for patients with difficult shoulder problems, including those with failed prior treatment. To help educate patients who are interested in learning more about conditions affecting the shoulder, Dr. Humphrey created the website shouldersurgeon.com.
