Chip Bergh is the president & chief executive officer of Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.). He is also on the company’s board of directors.LS&Co. is one of the world’s leading apparel companies with sales of approximately $5 billion and business in more than 110 countries. than 50,000 wholesale doors globally for its two main brands: Levi’s® and Dockers®.
Prior to joining LS&Co. in September 2011, Bergh retired from Procter & Gamble (P&G) after a 28-year career. Bergh grew up in brand management and served in a number of leadership positions with progressively increasing levels of complexity and scope. His last assignment before joining LS&Co. was group president, global male grooming. He was the first P&G employee assigned to the Gillette business following P&G’s $57 billion acquisition of Gillette in 2005. He led the integration and then ran the Gillette Blades & Razors business along with all of P&G’s male grooming brands (Gillette, Old Spice and The Art of Shaving).
Bergh is a strategic leader with a proven ability to build and grow brand powerhouses, bring new products to the market and develop innovative marketing campaigns. He was the driving force behind a number of successful product launches and multi-platform media campaigns, including the launch of Gillette Fusion and Fusion Pro-Glide, the revitalization and dramatic growth of the Old Spice brand, the revival of the Clean brand and the creation and test market launch of Swiffer – P&G’s most successful new brand in the last two decades.
Bergh has lived and worked in Europe and Asia during his career and has run large, global brands and businesses. He is married to another former P&Ger, who is from China, and they have a six-year-old daughter. He also has two grown sons.Bergh has previously served on the board of directors for VF Corporation and the Economic Development Board of Singapore and was a member of the US-ASEAN Business Council.
