Chris Romer is a recognized expert in higher education budget issues, higher education capital finance, and education policy.
As a Colorado State Senator from 2007 to 2011, he spent a significant amount of time and effort to helping reforming K12 education, and was an instrumental architect and advocate for educational reform legislation.
In
his professional life, Chris was a municipal finance consultant for 25 years, specializing in finance for post-secondary institutions and state governments.
He was also the co-founder of Digital Education Company (DES), which provided affordable online courses and training for students and adults to learn the latest computer programming languages.
Additionally, Chris is the founder and past President of the Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation, which provides mentoring programs and scholarship funds for low-income and inner-city students, and past President of the Colorado Children’s Campaign, a children’s advocacy group.
More recently, Chris served as Superintendent for New America Schools, two high schools serving immigrants, and as President of the KIPP Schools, serving low-income Latino students.
Chris graduated with honors from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
