Christopher L. Mapes, serves as chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Lincoln Electric Holdings Inc., a Cleveland-based manufacturer of quality welding, cutting and joining products. He is responsible for all of Lincoln Electric's businesses as well as its global product development initiatives.
Mapes was elected
to the board of directors of The Timken Company in February 2014. He brings to the board his expertise as the leader of a 118-year-old company with a global workforce of more than 10,000 people and 45 manufacturing locations in 19 countries. Lincoln Electric (NASDAQ: LECO) generates annual revenue of $3 billion.
Additionally, he brings more than 25 years of progressive executive experience with global industrial manufacturing and distribution companies. Prior to joining Lincoln Electric, he served as executive vice president for the A.O. Smith Corporation (NYSE: OAS) and president of its electrical products unit. A.O. Smith is a $2 billion global manufacturer of water heaters and related products and services.
After starting his career with General Motors Corporation in Toledo, Ohio, he went on to hold management positions at Essex Group, Superior Telecom and Regal-Beloit Corporation.
Mapes serves as a member of the Timken board’s Audit and Compensation Committees.
