Craig Cecilio is the CEO and Founder of DiversyFund. Craig’s mission is to disrupt traditional alternative asset investing and empower the average investor by giving them the same wealth building opportunities available to the 1%. Craig’s visionary approach to democratizing alternative asset investing combines the power of crowdfunding with
cutting-edge technology through DiversyFund’s online platform.
As CEO, Craig oversees the daily development and strategic execution of DiversyFund. This includes delivering the messaging and branding to the public, hiring the best people and constantly innovating to break down the barriers that prevent the average investor from participating in alternative asset investing. Craig is also an experienced fund manager and manages DiversyFund’s no-fee real estate fund that has returned over 10 percent since inception.
Prior to founding DiversyFund in 2014, Craig worked for nearly 20 years in real estate as a joint venture equity partner, lender and sponsor. A natural entrepreneur, Craig has utilized his networking skills to lead the development of over 1,000 single family residences, financing more than $1 billion worth of real estate assets.
Through these deals, however, Craig realized the traditional ways of raising money for real estate projects were archaic and excluded the retail investor. As he watched the rich get richer, he wondered how he could incorporate the average investor into these incredible investments.
A natural competitor, Craig saw an opportunity to open up these incredible real estate deals to the “99 percent” by utilizing technology and crowdfunding. His unwavering commitment to democratizing real estate led him to develop DiversyFund, the first vertically-integrated real estate investment platform. With a focus on technology, Craig has broken down the barriers to invest in real estate, giving all investors an opportunity to participate in real estate investments that would otherwise only be available to the privileged and well-connected.
Craig is a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, earning a bachelor's degree in 1996. He received his California real estate license in 1998. Before Diversyfund, he sat on the board of ARTs (A Reason to Survive) which promotes art as a means of therapy for children. When Craig is not busy leading Diversyfund, you can catch him at Crossfit, where he is an active participant, engaging in the foodie lifestyle, or spending time with his wife and two daughters.
