Dan Francis was the Co-Founder and CEO of Edgewood Partners Insurance Center.
Dan began his insurance career in 1976 with Rollins Burdick and Hunter in Palo Alto as a producer of commercial insurance business. Three years later he joined California Casualty / Calco Insurance Brokers as the company’s home office commercial insurance sales
manager.
At Calco, Dan was the architect of leading-edge insurance programs for the American Electronics Association and its members, including several Fortune 500 companies. In 1989 Francis became a principal and partner at Compro Insurance services where he continued to focus primarily on the needs of Silicon Valley-based technology companies and their investors.
In 1994 Dan and his partners sold Compro to Minet, the world’s 9th largest insurance broker, and Dan became President of Minet’s national Technology Services Practice. In 1997 (when Minet was acquired by global broker Aon) Dan orchestrated the “spin off” of Minet’s Silicon Valley Technology Practice to merge with ABD Insurance and Financial Services, where he was initially appointed president of ABD’s Technology and Life Sciences Division.
Dan went on to become ABD’s COO and ultimately the firm’s President and CEO. Dan and his partner John Hahn co-founded EPIC in July, 2007.
Dan is a graduate of Stanford University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and played varsity football. Professionally, Dan is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and has completed numerous commercial insurance and risk management courses.
