In March 2016, they became the first private farm licensed to grow hemp under New York’s pilot program and have worked closely with state officials to establish hemp as a viable industry for the state. Dan came to farming after a successful career in government having previously worked in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff and then the National Counterterrorism Center, where he managed complex interagency plans designed to achieve specific US policy objectives. Dan received his Masters in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and his BA from the Gallatin School at New York University. He splits his time between New York City and JD Farms in Eaton, NY.
