David Ollila is the President and Chief Innovation Officer of Skypoint Ventures. A serial innovator and entrepreneur, he holds 12 patents on everything from sporting goods to wearable technology. He will bring his expertise and wealth of experience to Skypoint’s portfolio companies, helping them innovate, create value, and grow. In addition, he
will lead the charge in developing the Ferris Building into an innovation hub that attracts talent and investment from across Michigan and beyond.
Before joining Skypoint, David was the Founding Director of Invent@NMU, a nationally recognized innovation and commercialization center located at Northern Michigan University. It has helped aspiring inventors get their ideas to market and spurred economic development in the Upper Peninsula. Having been so successful, the model is now being considered for statewide expansion. In addition, David has been invited to the White House on several occasions for his work to improve and grow the economies of rural areas.
When he is not inventing or consulting with innovators and entrepreneurs, David likes to spend his time outdoors. He enjoys exploring the U.P., adventure motorcycle touring and family soccer tournaments.
