DéVon has leveraged his marketing knowledge and communications expertise to build his brand from a single publication, Bleu Magazine, the aspirational lifestyle publication for multicultural men, to a full-scale multimedia company serving diverse audiences worldwide. While many of his peers spent after school time practicing sports, DéVon chased
a different path. He spent his time working with his grandfathers auto body business, learning how to use his hands, and weekends taking STEM workshops. He also enrolled in theater classes and performed in school plays. At the age of 16 he began taking college classes at St. John’s University because he finished most of his high school coursework early. He has also achieved the rare distinction of Eagle Scout, an honour less than five percent of scouts receive. DéVon’s diverse skillset and experiences earned him a full academic scholarship to Seton Hall University where he earned a BA in Communication and the Arts. After college, he poured those skills and talents into a career in the music industry, working in marketing and advertising roles for major companies like Def Jam Records, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Atlantic Records, collaborating on projects for artists like Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Mariah Carey, Trey Songz and Rihanna. After seven years working in-house in the music industry, DéVon left to create BleuLife Media Group. While building the company he earned a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Harvard University. With the experience, skills and connections he gained in his former roles, he’s crafting a media empire with a global reach and a mandate of inclusivity and diversity. BleuLife Media Group’s platforms now include Bleu Magazine, its sister digital platform, Bombshellbybleu.com, Bleu TV, a podcast network, and an agency that represents digital influencers.
