Dr. Tempel is founder, President and CEO of Drais Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Drais is a privately held drug development company focused on early phase, proof of concept studies. Prior to founding Drais, Dr. Tempel was Chief Operating Officer of AkaRx, Inc. a privately held company that was sold to Eisai in January of 2010. Before the founding of AkaRx
in 2004, Dr. Tempel served as Vice President, Project Management at Yamanouchi Pharma America and was responsible for overseeing the conduct of all clinical development programs including those for Vesicare® and Vaprisol®. Dr. Tempel has a background in global project management and corporate finance and is responsible for the company's business strategy, partnerships and business development. Dr. Tempel has held various positions in Clinical Research and Development at Bristol Myers Squibb and Johnson and Johnson. She currently sits on the Board of Trustees of the BioNJ organization.
Dr. Tempel received a B.S. degree in Psychology and Mathematics from Hunter College, CUNY, an MBA in Finance from Farleigh Dickinson University, and a Ph.D. in Neurological Sciences from CUNY/Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
