Edward Chandler is a founder and managing director of Portage Venture Partners, which manages the Portage, DFJ Portage, and Graystone Venture Funds. He currently manages the firm's investments in Aleri, Centerpost, Cythera, MobileAware, Pericor Science and Vbrick Systems.
Prior to forming Portage and Graystone, Chandler was a founder and
the managing principal of Prairie Capital, a venture capital investment firm formed in 1990 to acquire a venture portfolio from the private equity investment subsidiary of Continental Bank. During his tenures at Continental, Prairie, and Graystone, Chandler has served as a director of HNC Software, Inc., Meridian Data, Inc., Worldtalk Communications, Inc., Iwerks Entertainment, Inc., and Datawatch Corp., as well as several other companies which are still privately held.
He joined Continental Illinois' venture capital affiliates in 1984. From 1980 to 1982, Chandler was an Associate with the Boston Consulting Group.
Chandler holds an MBA from Harvard University, where he graduated with High Distinction as a Baker Scholar. He earned a BA in economics, magna cum laude, from Yale University.
