Edward F. Glassmeyer, Managing Partner, co-founded Oak with Stewart Greenfield in 1978. Ed focuses on expansion financings in the Cloud and Enterprise Software and Services companies. He is also actively involved in Oak’s global initiatives in EMEA and Asia.
Ed is currently on the Board of Directors of IT Service companies Cloud Technology
Partners, EquaTerra (to KPMC) and Geotrace, and storage systems innovator, Xiotech (purchased from Seagate, where Ed was a founding director). He also co-sponsored broadband networking companies GTS (Central Europe) and Zayo. Ed is on the board of earlier stage companies, Movik Networks, whose products substantially reduce peak loads on mobile networks, and eSports company, Major League Gaming. Past portfolio activity includes IT service companies CBORD Group acquired by Roper Industries and Mobius Management acquired by AGS Content Management; Credit Card software company Paysys acquired by First Data; Voice and data switching company Telica (acquired by Lucent); Bellcore spinout Tellium; Aavid Termalloy (NASD:AATT) since taken private; Cogent Communications (NASD: CCOI) and Seagate (NASD: STX ).
Prior to Oak, Ed started his career with Citicorp Venture Capital, and later became Managing Partner of The Sprout Group at DLJ (Donaldson, Lufkin, & Jenrette). Ed graduated from Princeton University, served as an officer in the Marine Corps, and received his MBA with distinction from The Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College, where he serves on the Board of Overseers. Ed was a founding Director of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), and received their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
