Kangas was elected non-executive Chairman of UTC in November 2014. He is the former Chairman and CEO of Deloitte, Touche, Tohmatsu (audit, tax and consulting services), a position he held from 1989 to 2000.
Kangas is also a Board member of Hovnanian Enterprises Inc., Intelsat S.A. and Tenet Healthcare Corporation (non-executive Chairman 2003 to
2015), and a former director of Intuit, Inc. (2007 to 2016), Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (2010 to 2012), and Eclipsys Corporation (2004 to 2010). He is a trustee of the Committee of Economic Development and the past Chairman of the national Multiple Sclerosis Society.
