Gary M. Shiffman works to counter organized coercion and illicit violence, and he believes that it is up to small diverse groups of people to create the innovations which change the world. Gary served two tours in the Gulf War and served in National Security positions in the Pentagon, Senate, and Department of Homeland Security. He earned a PhD in
economics, and he writes, teaches, and works on government-funded research to explore the application of behavioral science to national security. Gary co-founded two AI- and Machine Learning-based Software-as-a-Service companies -- Giant Oak, Inc., and Consilient, Inc. His publications include, "The Economics of Violence: How Behavioral Science Can Transform Our View of Crime, Insurgency, and Terrorism (2020)."
