Gene Fleming served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cogent Healthcare from April 2005 to May 2011, and as Executive Chairman of CogentHMG Corporation through December 2011.
Prior to CogentHMG, Gene held several executive management roles, including President and CEO of Surgical Alliance Corporation, Executive Vice President
and Chief Operating Officer of Quorum Health Group, and President Eastern Group of Hospital Corporation of America. A lifelong healthcare executive, he served as CEO of three HCA hospitals prior to accepting a senior management role in the company.
Gene is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, served on the Boards of the Florida Hospital Association, the Federation of American Hospitals, the Regional Policy Board of the American Hospital Association, and as Chairman of the Florida League of Hospitals.
Prior to his private sector healthcare career, he was an Officer in the United States Air Force. He earned an M.B.A. and a B.S. in Business Administration from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
