Genevieve Borich, PhD, AICP has built her career aiming to merge community planning with data by bridging real world experience with research expertise. She founded SnapSense in 2011 to help communities measure and track data with the aim to empower community leaders be more effective at what they do. In addition to starting SnapSense, Genevieve
e Borich, PhD, AICP also managed the Rockford Vital Signs initiative, a program to develop a regional sustainability plan built on community sustainability indicators. In addition to writing the HUD Sustainable Communities grant that funds the initiative, she designed the process to develop a regional sustainability plan that is built on community sustainability indicators.
Her previous position was as the former Executive Director of the Rockford Region Economic Development District in Rockford, Illinois. As developer of the Engaged Planning Community Diagnostic Tool for her Ph.D., she works to help communities become more empowered with their planning implementation efforts. Her doctorate is in Urban and Regional Planning with the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and Genevieve has an extensive background in economic development, community sustainability, research and analysis, community indicators, creative design, and innovative community engagement methods. She also has a Masters of Urban Planning from Illinois and a Bachelor's in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State.
