Gerry is a passionate vacation home owner and frequent renter -- he founded InstaRent Global due to his immense frustration with the time-consuming and inefficient vacation rental process for homeowners and renters alike. Gerry started his career at the height of the original Internet boom in the Sand Hill Road office of Venture Law Group (VLG) in
the heart of Silicon Valley. Prior to its acquisition, VLG was the original firm which incorporated and represented such well known internet pioneers including Yahoo, Hotmail, and PayPal to name a few. In 2005, along with approximately half of the original VLG partners, Gerry assisted in creating a new "Emerging Companies Group" at global firm, Orrick, Herrington, & Sutcliffe LLP, which then represented companies such as Facebook during its infancy. Later Gerry founded Venture Counsel Partners, in order to better assist entrepreneurs with their startup technology companies.
Prior to InstaRent Global, Gerry’s focus and passion over the course of his career has been advising entrepreneurs with respect to all aspects of structuring, growing and selling start-up technology companies. He has directly assisted entrepreneurs raise over half a billion dollars of venture-capital financing from a variety of top-tier investors and has also directly led the sale of several companies to major acquirers such as Facebook and eBay. Based on over a decade of Silicon Valley experience, Gerry has acquired a deep understanding of how complex concepts are transformed into extremely-valuable companies in a relatively short amount of time.
Gerry received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) law degree and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from the University of California where received a merit-based scholarship and graduated top of his class. During his studies he received significant academic recognition including awards for being the top student in several classes important to start-up companies including business strategy, corporations, finance and contracts. As an undergraduate, he graduated summa cum laude at the University of Auckland, New Zealand's highest-ranked university, where he received a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree with majors in Economics and International Business. Gerry has always had an extremely strong interest in the interplay between technology, economics and applied mathematics. He is the original inventor of the company's provisional patents and is also a pioneer in working virtually from all corners of the globe (mentioned in Tim Ferriss’ NY Times # 1 Best Seller, “The Four Hour Work Week”). He speaks good Spanish and in his spare time he has a variety of interests including traveling (almost 90 countries to date), cycling, skiing, scuba-diving (advanced PADI certification) and wine-collecting.
