Gregory Barker (Lord Barker of Battle) is a British entrepreneur, former MP, and Green Economy advocate. Currently, he serves as chairman of the Electric Vehicle Network (EVN), a role he has held since its inception in 2017. He is also a board member of the innovative US neuro-powered media company, Glassview, serves as a strategic advisor and
chairman of Powerhive’s advisory board, and is an independent Non-executive Director of FTSE 250 company ME Group, an international market leader in automated instant-service equipment. From 2017 to 2022, he chaired En+, the world’s largest producer of low-carbon aluminum. He also chaired Quercus Renewable Energy until its acquisition by a major Italian financial institution in 2021. Greg Barker worked closely with Lightsource, providing strategic advice until its sale to BP in 2018. He also served as Deputy Chairman of the Mexican rooftop solar business, Ilios, where he helped engineer its partnership and eventual sale to Tesla. Barker was the UK’s longest-serving Climate Change Minister and played a key role in elevating climate change as a top priority in UK politics. He was a Conservative MP from 2001 until 2015 and played a key role UK climate and energy legislation and environmental initiatives, including the founding of the Green Investment Bank, overseeing a major expansion of energy efficiency programs, leading the Capital Markets Climate Initiative, and transforming the UK solar sector. Following his political career, Greg Barker continued to be actively involved with green issues and the low carbon economy, including serving as chairman of the London Sustainable Development Commission (2014-2016), co-chair of the World Bank’s Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (2020-2022) with which he played an active role at the Glasgow Climate Conference. He is a longstanding participant In the Energy Transition Forum, and a former trustee of the Environmental Defense Fund (Europe) and The Climate Group. Lord Barker of Battle currently serves as a director of the Clean Growth Leadership Network (CGLN) and is a governor of Lancing College, a leading independent school in Sussex, UK.
