Harish Bhaskaran is a pioneer of photonic computing and interconnects for AI, and served as a UK Manufacturing Fellow for 9 years. He is the academic founder of Salience Labs, where the foundational technology developed by his research group and his insights into their applications led to its spinout through an EiR from Oxford Sciences innovation.
He also co-founded Bodle Technologies (with Peiman Hosseini) and served as its Director and Chief Scientific Officer, acting also as its founding executive until Jan 2016. He was Professor of Applied NanoMaterials at the University of Oxford, where he established and led the Advanced Nanoscale Engineering Group, as well as serving as a Director of the Oxford Fab and as one of the Associate Heads of the MPLS division. A former researcher at IBM Research, Harish has worked in both industry and academia over the past 20 years, including in product development under joint development agreements. A highly cited and noted researcher, he is an elected fellow of learned societies including the Royal Academy of Engineering. As of 2025, he is Director of Exploratory Design at Apple Inc. in Cupertino
