Harry Stylli is the chairman of OncoCellMDx Inc., a private company that develops and brings to market novel diagnostic tests based on proprietary technologies from Harvard Medical School. The company has created noninvasive, blood-based immunogenic assays that assist physicians in identifying various cancers. Developed using deep learning
techniques, the company’s platform allows physicians not only to identify disease signatures, but also to more accurately determine the severity and aggressiveness of the disease.
Mr. Stylli also serves as executive chairman of Progenity, a provider of diagnostic and molecular testing in the areas of oncology, women’s health, and reproductive medicine. Progenity’s products screen for such issues as inherited cancer risk in addition to chromosomal, hereditary, and single-gene disorders.
In his leadership of OncoCellMDx and Progenity, Harry Stylli draws on three decades of experience as an entrepreneur and executive in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. In recent years, he has served as a director at Molecular Insight Pharmaceuticals and as president and chief executive officer of biotechnology company Xencor.
Harry Stylli previously brought his expertise to CovX Pharmaceuticals. Heading the newly established company as president and chief executive officer, he played a key role in launching a development pipeline, creating the infrastructure for discovery and preclinical research, and drafting a business plan that resulted in CovX attaining key financing.
Harry Stylli’s background in leading newly established companies also includes his time at Aurora Biosciences. After cofounding Aurora in 1995, he assumed responsibilities as senior vice president of screening technology and new ventures. In this capacity, he forged partnerships with pharmaceutical companies that led to Aurora receiving more than $300 million in funding. Mr. Stylli subsequently expanded companywide revenue to $95 million in only two years as senior vice president of commercial development.
Also instrumental in adjusting Aurora’s focus from technology to drug discovery, Harry Stylli helped spearhead the $600+ million acquisition of the company by Vertex Pharmaceuticals in 2001. After the merger, he served as president of Aurora Biosciences and Panvera.
Mr. Stylli began his career with a successful eight-year tenure at GlaxoSmithKline. He holds a bachelor of science from the University of East London and a PhD from the Faculty of Medicine at London University. While working as an executive, he earned a master of business administration from the U.K.’s Open University.
