Hooks Johnston has had success as both an operating executive and as a venture capital investor. He has twenty-five years of experience in senior leadership roles at venture capital firms and technology companies in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Prior to founding Valhalla Partners, Hooks was a Managing Director at FBR Technology Venture Partners
("FBRTVP"). The FBRTVP funds produced seven IPOs, including webMethods, the most successful software IPO in history.
Hooks is on the board of SEPATON, Inc. He also led Valhalla's investments in KZO Innovations (acquired by Bedford Funding), Persystent Technologies, Verical, Inc. (acquired by Arrow Electronics, Inc. - NYSE:ARW), MiserWare and ServiceBench (sold to N.E.W.).
He is currently a board member of The Global Good Fund, Five Talents International, and serves on the Virginia Innovation and Enterpreneurship Investment Authority and the INOVA Healthcare Services Board.
