Hyatt Brown has served as one of our directors since 2003. Hyatt Brown has been chairman of Brown & Brown, Inc., since 1993 and was Brown & Brown’s chief executive officer from 1993 until July 1, 2009. He is a trustee of Stetson University in Florida, a past member of the Florida Board of Regents, and a member of the Florida Council of 100.
He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1972 and became speaker in 1978, retiring in 1980. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Speedway Corporation and was formerly on the boards of Next Era Energy, Inc., Rock-Tenn Company, Sun Trust Banks, Inc., and Bell South Corporation.
