Mr. Shields brings a wealth of experience in the computer industry to BCV. At Digital Equipment Corporation he was among the first 100 employees and held positions ranging from field engineer to senior vice president over a period of 28 years. His job responsibilities included overseeing the sales, services, marketing and international divisions
within Digital with 70,000 employees reporting to him. In 1990, Mr. Shields joined Computervision where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. During his tenure at Computervision, Mr. Shields redirected the company's strategy, reduced its debt by $860 million and successfully relaunched Computervision as a public company. Mr. Shields has spent the last four years personally investing in and providing advice to technology start-up companies.
Jack Shields is the general partner of Boston Capital Ventures. Mr. Shields is a director of Centric Software, which provides Collaborative Virtual Product Development (CVPD) Solutions that optimize the product innovation cycle, Exa Corporation which sells fluid flow simulation software for engineers to analyze complex fluid flow problems, and ImpactXoft which delivers on the promise of Simultaneous Product Development. He is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute's School of Industrial Management (WPI) and the Harvard Business School PMD program and has received an honorary Doctorate of Engineering from WPI
