James Vaughan joined Batterson Venture Capital, LLC, in September of 2009 as the managing principal to head the firm's new business development and client communications efforts. worth individuals and small institutional clients to Batterson Venture Capital, LLC.
James began his financial services career in 1990 as CEO of J.E. Vaughan Financial Services, located in Michigan, where he and his team provided insurance and investment planning to the owners of closely-held businesses. Eight years later, he founded and managed William Blair Select, the open architecture investment management platform for Chicago-based William Blair and Company, serving their financial advisors, portfolio managers, and advisory firms outside the company. As it grew to 13 team members, William Blair Select developed strategic partnership relationships with over 75 investment management organizations from across the country, growing $1.2 billion in client assets during James' 11-year tenure.
Following college at San Francisco State University, James played professional golf for 14 years and served as the head golf pro at Detroit Golf Club from 1982 – 1990.
