Janet Hill is a principal in Hill Family Advisors, where she oversees the family’s assets and investments. She retired in 2010 as the co-owner and Vice President of Alexander & Associates, Inc., a corporate consulting firm in Washington, D.C., after 30 years in management and ownership.
Mrs. Hill currently serves on the boards of The Wendy’s
Company, Dean Foods, Inc. and Carlyle Group. She is also a Vice President of Hill Ventures, Inc., her son’s real estate investment business. She retired from the following boards when the companies were sold: Tambrands, Houghton Mifflin, Sprint, and Security Capital Group. She served as a public member of the New York Cotton Exchange for six years. Mrs. Hill is a member of the Board of Trustees of Duke University and was personally appointed to the Board of the Kennedy Center by President Obama. She is a commissioner of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics and a member of the board of the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.
Mrs. Hill formerly served on the Board of Trustees of Wellesley College and the Board of Visitors of the College of William & Mary. She served on the Board of Visitors of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University for 18 years.
From 1978 until 1981, Mrs. Hill was the Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Army. She was involved in all major decisions of the Secretariat during that period. Prior to her work for the Army, she was a scientist with a private consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. area. Mrs. Hill holds degrees in Mathematics from Wellesley College (BA) and the University of Chicago (MAT). She is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She is married to Calvin Hill, a Yale graduate, retired professional athlete in the NFL and a consultant to the Dallas Cowboys. Their only child, Grant, is a Duke graduate, a retired professional athlete with the NBA and present owner of two private equity firms. He is currently a studio host on TNT and the host of Inside Stuff on NBATV. He and his wife, Tamia, a seven-time Grammy-nominated singer, are the parents of two daughters.
