JJeff (J.D.) Davids is a software company founder and executive who has served on the management teams of 8 venture capital backed technology companies. 3 of those companies completed successful IPOs, 3 were acquired, and he has closed over $1 Billion in corporate financial transactions including raising capital from angel investors, venture
capital & private equity firms, corporate investors, IPOs & mergers & acquisitions.
His SmartMoney Ventures training programs have had over 3,500 participants and 30+ portfolio companies have raised over $140M in funding in the last 3 years. He is a speaker, teacher & writer featured in Forbes, Bloomberg, the NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center and many incubators and universities. J.D. hosts the SmartMoney Ventures Podcast along with co-host Dave Berkus, Chairman Emeritus of Tech Coast Angels.
J.D. is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he earned enough to pay for college. He graduated cum laude from THE Ohio State University's Honors Accounting Program and began his professional career as a CPA with KPMG Peat Marwick.
In 2021, J.D. joined Carmen Ventures in Columbus, Ohio as a partner leading dealflow origination, evaluation and incubation/acceleration.
J.D. has had the privilege of working with portfolio companies of top tier venture capital and private equity firms including Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Benchmark Capital, Mohr Davidow, NEA, Physic Ventures, Thomas, McNerney & Partners, TA Associates, JK&B Capital, ATA Ventures, Enterprise Partners, Mission Ventures and many others. He has also worked with corporate clients and their investment portfolio companies including Life Technologies/ThermoFisher, Websense (acq by Vista Equity), WIreless Facilities (WFII), Omnicom (OMC), MGM Mirage (MGM) and many others.
