He is a licensed physician in the state of Maryland and a veteran aviator. He is one of only 12 pilot-qualified flight surgeons in the United States Air
Force.
Dr. Woolford was born and raised in Maryland, prior to enlisting in the Air Force in 1989. He initially served as a mechanic on fighter aircraft until commissioned as an officer and pilot in 1997.
After combat in Afghanistan in 2003, he enrolled into medical school and after completing his medical training he was re-qualified as a combat-ready Air Force pilot.
