Atkin joined the Zions Bancorporation board of directors in 1993. He is chairman and CEO of SkyWest, Inc. In July1974 he joined SkyWest as a member of the board of directors and the director of finance, and became CEO in 1975. Atkin is also chairman of the board and CEO of SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, both of which are
subsidiaries of SkyWest Inc. He was elected chairman of the board of Skywest, Inc. in June 1991 and has led the company as its annual revenues have grown from less than $1 million to more than $3 billion. Atkin received a B.S. and an M.BA. from the University of Utah and practiced as a Certified Public Accountant for two years prior to joining SkyWest.
