Jim Dutton leads software development for new products at GNS Healthcare.
Prior to GNS, Jim was the Chief Architect and VP of Engineering at Caringo, a cloud storage infrastructure company, where he designed and built scalable storage software. He grew the engineering team from zero to forty senior engineers and managed six major software
releases.
Prior to that, he was CEO at the SaaS vendor Traq Wireless, a billing optimization service for enterprise-owned cellular phones. He was responsible for software development, IT production services and customer care with about 30 employees in each group. After being promoted to CEO by Traq’s board of directors, Jim grew the customer base, achieved seven consecutive months of profitability, signed two major reseller deals, built and released a new online procurement product, and prepared the company for a successful acquisition by Tangoe, Inc. in 2005.
Jim holds a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Florida Institute of Technology. He is inventor on a number of US and International patents for topics including Wireless Communication Billing Optimization, Generalized Namespaces, and Adaptive Power Conservation for Massively Scalable Storage Clusters.
