Jochen’s experience spans 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry, and encompasses every aspect of drug discovery, development and registration. The pharmaceutical expertise is supplemented by experience in pharma deals including the sale of Jerini , securing private capital and an initial public offering (IPO) at the German Stock exchange in
Frankfurt. From 1978 to 1998 Jochen worked in several functions in the central pharmaceutical research unit of Hoechst AG and Hoechst-Marion-Roussel (HMR).
Jochen joined 1998 Axys Pharmaceuticals now Celera in San Francisco, California, where he served as VP for Medicinal Chemistry and structural biology.
From 2001-2008 Jochen was the Chief Scientific Officer and Head of R&D in the management board at Jerini. After licensing icatibant, a Bradykinin receptor antagonist, from Aventis, the clinical development of icatibant (Firazyr) was initiated and led to the approval of icatibant as ‘First in class bradykinin antagonist’ for the treatment of hereditary angioedema.
While at Jerini, Jochen facilitated and managed collaborations with Merck, Kos Pharmaceuticals and Abbott, academic collaborations, private financing rounds and the IPO of Jerini at the German Stock Exchange Frankfurt in 2005. In 2008 Jerini was acquired by Shire. After resignation from the management board of Jerini in October 2008 Jochen established JCK Consult. Jochen is a board member at Charité CRO and a Senior Advisor at TVM Capital Group.
