Joel Allison is a distinguished leader in health care and hospital management and noted expert in value-based payment and care delivery. He was the long-time president and chief executive officer of Baylor Scott & White Health, one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the United States and a leading provider of health care in Texas.
Allison joined the health system in 1993 as chief operating officer and was elevated to CEO in 2000. During his tenure, Allison helped lead the merger between Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare, creating the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas. He has been included 11 times on Modern Healthcare’s list of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare,” and most recently, was honored with the American Hospital Association’s 2017 Award of Honor in recognition of his accomplishments throughout his 40-plus-year career. He currently serves as chair of the Board of Regents at Baylor University and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
