Council Previously, VP, Global Vehicles of FedEx Express (since 2003) managing 96,000 vehicles and ground support equipment units and spearheaded the integration of fuel-efficient vehicle models under his leadership.
Pioneered the creation of hybrid vans in 2003 in partnership Eaton Corporation, and has worked with Azure Dynamics, Hino, Iveco and Isuzu, to advance the availability of commercial hybrid vehicles.
At his retirement (2010) the company’s hybrid and electric truck fleet around the globe had covered more than five million miles of revenue service saving over 33 million gallons of fuel (700 million pounds of CO2 ).
Responsible for the industry’s largest fleet of airport Ground Support Equipment: FedEx Express Memphis, Tennessee Hub (worlds’ largest concentration of GSE at one airport).
Also oversaw GSE at FedEx Hub, Guangzhou, China and expansion of European hub at Charles de Gaulle airport.
Joined FedEx team in 1983 as a project engineer; Senior Manager, Service Engineering (1984), Managing Director, Regional Planning & Administration (1985), Managing Director, District Operations (1990), VP, Worldwide Ground Ops Planning & Support (1997), VP, Regional Operations (1997).
