James "Jos" Shaver is the Founding Partner and Senior Advisor at Electron Capital Partners, a $3 billion global investment firm focusing on energy transition sectors for nearly two decades. He led Electron as Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) since 2004, including four years at Point72/SAC Capital, before
successfully transitioning the firm to its next generation of partners in September 2023.
Throughout his career, Jos has spearheaded global investment initiatives. Under his leadership as CIO, Electron consistently outperformed various indices, including MSCI ACWI, MSCI World Utilities, S&P 500, and average hedge fund index (HFRI), by significant margins, achieving returns with a net long position of 34%.
Prior to founding Electron, Jos held senior roles in London from 2000 to 2004, serving as Managing Director of SG Barr Devlin and Director at DU/CSFB, where he advised major European utilities. He also gained extensive international experience during his time in Hong Kong (1995-2000) and New York (1989-1995), leading UBS' Utility Investment Banking Group in Asia and contributing to global project finance groups, respectively.
Jos holds a BA in Mathematical Economics from Colgate University (1986) and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Columbia Business School (1990).
