Jose Cibelli is a professor of Animal Biotechnology at Michigan State University and heads its Cellular Reprogramming Laboratory. From 1999-2002, he was Vice President of Research at Advanced Cell Technology (ACT) in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Cibelli is one of the pioneers in the area of cloning with transgenic somatic cells for the production
of animals and embryonic stem cells. Dr. Cibelli, together with his colleagues, was responsible for the generation of the world's first transgenic cloned calves, the first embryonic stem cell line from humans by nuclear transfer, and the first embryonic stem cells by parthenogenesis in primates. Dr. Cibelli earned his PhD in Reproductive Physiology in 1998 at the University of Massachusetts and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of La Plata in 1989.
