For nearly 30 years, Josef Holm has built and invested in technology businesses through every major platform shift, from the early internet to the current era of agentic AI and intelligent operations.
He founded his first company in the late 1990s, generating $50 million in sales during the first wave of consumer internet. Since then he has
worked as founder, operator, and investor across user acquisition, performance marketing, and venture building.
In 2016, long before AI went mainstream, he launched a machine learning startup. That early bet now defines what he builds today.
In 2018 he co-founded Draper Goren Holm with Tim Draper, where he serves as General Partner backing founders in emerging technology categories.
In 2025 he launched Akii, an agentic brand intelligence system built for AI-driven discovery. Akii shows brands how AI systems represent them, tracks competitor and narrative shifts over time, and turns those signals into prioritized actions through Control Center. As AI becomes the primary interface for discovery, comparison, and decision-making, Akii is the intelligence infrastructure brands need to compete in that environment.
Alongside Akii, he leads Holm Intelligence Partners (HIP), an AI advisory practice for mid-market operators, private equity funds, and regulated entities. HIP runs AI Operating Audits for leadership teams dealing with AI Fragmentation—where uncoordinated pilots, shadow IT, and disconnected tools are leaking both profit margins and proprietary data. HIP audits the decision layer, secures the workflows, and installs the AI Operating System required to scale throughput safely.
The pattern across his career is consistent: spot structural shifts early, then build. From the first wave of internet growth to Web3, and now the transition to agentic AI. Today, he approaches that shift from two sides: building Akii into the intelligence layer brands need, and serving as a Fractional CAIO through HIP to help established CEOs turn fragmented AI into secure, operational ROI.
