Joydeep invests in SaaS-enabled software including mobile-first enterprise solutions. His experience in SaaS is rooted in the founding days of Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Skype for Business (formerly Lync Online) where he ran cross-functional teams including R&D, IT Operations and Customer Support. He was awarded two patents for his work
on the platform architecture. Prior to Canaan, Joydeep was with Shasta Ventures where he led investments in the enterprise SaaS space.
Beyond software, Joydeep has a deep rooted passion in shaping rural welfare. He helped set up a goat farming business in India aimed at improving the livelihood of millions of rural households practicing animal husbandry. He is also fascinated by the confluence of culture and history, living his passion by travelling the ancient Silk Road. He has covered around 6000 miles of the route on local buses, trains and (sometimes) even camels!
Joydeep earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, where he was a CRTI fellow, and a BE degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University.
