Dr. Zhao joined Cenova in 2014 as a partner. He brought in with him over 25 years' experience in healthcare management and investment. In particular, Dr. Zhao's intimate knowledge in hospital management and operations proved to be an invaluable asset for Cenova portfolios since hospitals are the single most important components of the
China's healthcare value chain.
Before joining Cenova, Dr. Zhao co-founded two hospital management & investment firms, SinoCare and Beijing JiaheGuokang Hospital Management & Investment Co. Ltd. For the past 10 years, Dr. Zhao headed the acquisition and management of five hospitals in various parts of China, including four tier-2 hospitals and one tier-3 hospital. The acquired hospitals achieved significant revenue growth under his leadership within two years.
Previously, Dr. Zhao served as a financial advisor for Ciming Checkup, currently one of the largest Chinese preventive healthcare companies, where he completed the A-round investment by CDH Fund. Before that, Dr. Zhao was the General Manager of Beijing Haiyinke Group, a bioscience investment firm and a leading biotech incubator in China. Prior to Haiyinke, Dr. Zhao served as the head of bioscience investment at the Beijing Science & Technology Venture Investment Co. Ltd., where he led the investment in over 10 life science and agriculture companies including Beilu Pharmaceuticals, Chipscreen, etc.. Earlier in his career, Dr. Zhao spent fourteen years practicing medicine and held various positions of increasing responsibilities at the General Hospital at Shenyang Military Region, a leading hospital in China.
