Katie leads Blackboard’s Global Services business, which provides consulting, hosting and student services to organizations around the world empowering them to envision, prepare for and realize the future of education. In this capacity, Katie guides a team of over 700 people to generate new market opportunities, build organizational capacity and
drive operational excellence. She also provides executive oversight for client relationship management and internal operations. Previous to taking this role, Katie served for four years as the Senior Vice President for Consulting at Blackboard where she provided executive support for state and system-wide eLearning implementations and the development of market-defining integrations between Blackboard’s learning management system and major publishers’ digital content.
Before coming to Blackboard, Katie served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Federal Student Aid at the U.S. Department of Education. As CIO she was responsible for promoting the effective use of technology to achieve Federal Student Aid’s strategic objectives through sound technology planning and investments, integrated technology architecture and standards, effective systems development and production support. Prior to becoming CIO, Katie was the Deputy General Manager for the Application, School Eligibility and Delivery Services Unit, responsible for processing over 14 million student applications for federal student aid and delivering over $60 billion in Title IV programs through approximately 6,200 postsecondary institutions.
Prior to joining the Department of Education, Katie worked at BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting) in its higher education group. In her 10+ years there, she worked with hundreds of schools advising on the effective delivery of student services.
Katie has almost 20 years of experience in the education industry, providing leadership in the business and technology realms and understands how to realize the benefits of effectively aligning human capital, business processes and technology to achieve business objectives at educational institutions. Katie has also served as a national speaker presenting on topics such as: “STEM Education and the Power of Technology”, “Achieving Learning Outcomes in a Changing Education Landscape” and “What’s Next for Education: The New Course Ecosystem.”
