Kay Krill served as Chief Executive Officer of ANN INC. ("ANN"), which was acquired by Ascena on August 21, 2015, from 2005 through October 31, 2015, and as President of ANN from 2004 through October 31, 2015. Krill also served as a member of the Board of Directors of ANN from 2004 until the acquisition.
From 2001 to 2004, Krill
served as President of ANN's LOFT Division. From 1998 to 2001, Krill was Executive Vice President, Merchandising and Design of ANN's LOFT Division. From 1996 to 1998, Krill served as Senior Vice President, General Merchandise Manager of ANN's LOFT Division and, from 1994 to 1996, she served as Vice President of Merchandising for Ann Taylor.
Krill was responsible for the creation of the LOFT brand, which during her tenure became a $1.5 billion business and one of the fastest growing concepts in women's apparel. Before joining ANN, Krill held various management positions at several retailers including The Talbots, Inc. and Hartmax Corporation.
During her time at ANN, Krill launched ANN's corporate social responsibility program, "Responsibly ANN", and charitable platform, "ANN Cares", to support programs that contribute to women's and children's health and well-being. Since 2005, ANN has raised more than $50 million to support such causes including the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®. Krill was the driving force behind the "ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative", a program designed to train and mentor the next generation of female leaders in the United States. She has been recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of America's most powerful women business leaders and Crain's 50 Most Powerful Women in New York (from 2007-2015).
In addition to her appointment as a member of the Board of Directors of Ascena, Krill is also on the Breast Cancer Research Foundation Board of Directors, as well as the Board of Directors of the National Retail Federation and St. Luke's School in New Canaan, CT.
The Board selected Krill to serve as a director based on her experience as the chief executive officer and board member of a specialty retailer, and her extensive experience in the apparel industry.
