Ken Malone is a co-founder of Early Charm Ventures, a startup studio that focuses on converting brilliant scientific discoveries made at major research institutions and converting them into businesses. Through Early Charm, he has been a founding partner of fifteen companies based on university intellectual property in areas ranging from
therapeutics and diagnostics to materials science and aquaculture. In addition to the Early Charm portfolio of actively managed companies, he separately assembled a portfolio of equity holdings in over thirty biotech and health tech companies through consulting and management agreements. By using his academic training in the physical and life sciences and applying his broad life experiences in business operations, marketing, intellectual property management, M&A, finance, manufacturing and government affairs, he directly impacts his portfolio companies both through operational support and fund raising. Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the University of Southern Mississippi and prior to that held management positions for what is now Total S.A. He holds a PhD in Polymer Science and a BS in biochemistry.
